About the composer...

Anthony John Costandius (1960 -2021) was born with a passion for music. In primary school he composed a piano duet for himself and a friend. This passion continued through university (cabarets with Hennie Aucamp, choirs ) into adulthood. He always had music instruments – but sometimes no petrol for his car! He studied psychology at university, and obtained a PhD. He always claimed that music and psychology are closely interwoven.

After his marriage in 1987, he settled in Durbanville. He practised as a private psychologist. Throughout his career he composed – and continued studying music with Jan-Hendrik Harley, Peter Klatzow and others. Several musicals, cabarets, programme music, chamber music , commissions (saxophone, bassoon, violin, film music), songs, choir and more followed throughout his lifetime.

He was a multi-talented individual. His knowledge of many genres of music (not only classical) is visible in all his compositions. At the time of his death, he was still busy organizing another performance of new compositions.
