About the Composer...
Niel van der Watt is a South African composer . He learnt to play the clarinet, and piano as well as being taught vocal training. He is known for his choral works and has been involved in choral music as a singer, conductor, composer and arranger for over 20 years.
Van der Watt completed his Bachelor and Honour’s degrees in Music at the University of Pretoria. He completed his Masters in Music under the tutelage of Stefans Grové in 1993 and later obtained his doctorate in music under the supervision of Douglas Reid. Since 1987, van der Watt has been a teacher at Pretoria Boys’ High School teaching English and Music.
His focus is composition and is well known for his choral arrangements and choral compositions which have been performed internationally.
