On the 17th of March 1982, Sibusiso Njeza was born in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Njeza grew up between Butterworth and Centane; both towns are found in the south-eastern part of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. He was born into a music loving family. He started singing in church and at school.  

Njeza is active in South Africa as a choir conductor, teacher, arts administrator, facilitator of music workshops and masterclasses, composer, and an adjudicator for local and national competitions for the last 20 years. He has composed 3 operas namely: 

1. Madiba the African Opera: composed in 2013 and premiered at the South African State Theatre on 23 May 2014 

2. Blood of mine: as part of Four 30 minutes operas composed in South Africa project in 2015 

3. Amagokra an all women cast thirty minutes opera, dealing with the subject of GBV (gender-based violence) in South Africa, commissioned by The Cape Town Opera Company and UCT Opera School and premiered on 4 June 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa. 

Njeza has also composed many choral and art songs that are sung both here at home and abroad. Among other music-related projects, Njeza established an online platform for choral music engagement called The Choralist. In this platform, Njeza is podcasting conversations with choral music practitioners and professionals.   

Njeza currently works as a lecturer in the department of Music and Musicology at Rhodes University in Makhanda. He holds the following qualifications: Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Regent Business School), Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree obtained with distinction (Rhodes University), Licentiates Diploma in Music obtained with distinction (Rhodes University) and is currently a Master of Music candidate at Wits University.
